Description:
Trans-Blot SD semi-dry transfer cell allows fast, efficient, and economical blotting. Using a platinum-coated titanium plate as the anode and a stainless-steel plate as the cathode, the Trans-Blot SD cell transfers in a horizontal configuration without a buffer tank or gel cassettes.
Faster, More Efficient Transfers
Because the plate electrodes are positioned directly against the filter paper stack, the field strength across the gel is maximized for faster, more efficient transfers. Transfers can be accomplished in 15–30 minutes for mini gels and 30–60 minutes for full-size gels.
Minimal Buffer Requirements
Only 200 ml of buffer is needed for a transfer, just enough to wet the filter papers, which serve as ion reservoirs. Reagent cost and preparation time are significantly reduced.
Platinum Plate Electrodes Provide Consistent and Reliable Transfers
The plate electrodes of the Trans-Blot SD cell transfer proteins quickly, efficiently, and evenly, with a uniform electrical field. Since neither platinum nor stainless steel breaks down or changes its conductive properties with repeated use, constant replacement of spent electrodes is not necessary.
Single-Step Locking System for Simple, Speedy Setup
Setting up the Trans-Blot SD cell is quick and safe with its unique single-step locking system. The platinum anode rests on four springs, enabling the entire anode platform to move up and down to accommodate various gel stack thicknesses, producing even pressure on the blotting sandwich during transfer. With the Trans-Blot SD cell's unique locking system, the electrodes cannot be misaligned, ensuring uniform contact across the entire electrode surface. This eliminates the need for extra plastic templates required by other semi-dry blotters to prevent short circuits across the electrodes. The safety cover breaks the electrical circuit when lifted, preventing electrical shock.
Capacity to Transfer Multiple Gels
With the use of a dialysis membrane, multiple gel transfers are possible. The dialysis membrane is placed between the gel sandwiches to prevent cross-contamination between blots.
New Frame Simplifies DNA and RNA Transfer
In addition to western blotting, the Trans-Blot SD semi-dry cell can also transfer DNA and RNA using the unique agarose gel semi-dry blotting support frame. The frame protects the fragile agarose gel from compression by the electrodes. Southern and northern blots can be run in 10–35 minutes. For more information, refer to bulletin 1714.
