General observations: This Thermo Scientific TSX40086A ultra-low freezer is a clean unit in beautiful cosmetic condition and is now fully operational. We acquired it from a premier state facility during a department closure. Prior to release, the unit was processed under standard decontamination protocols in accordance with state guidelines.
Facility Testing: We first reviewed the freezer logs and noted an unexpected warming event in which temperatures settled around -26°C for an extended period before the unit was taken offline. Upon inspection, our technician found that the front intake filter had been removed, allowing the heat exchanger to become heavily blanketed with lint. The filter was replaced, and the freezer was serviced and thoroughly de-linted before resuming testing. During a 48-hour post-service test run, the unit showed normal pull-down, stable -80°C hold, and clean recovery through routine compressor off-cycles across the full observed window. All logged behavior during the test period was routine for an empty freezer operating to manufacturer spec. Test logs available upon request.
Additional notes: The interior is clean and sanitized per state release standards. All interface controls operated properly during testing. WiFi connected to our systems easily and we were able to establish admin user status. Door and seals are in excellent condition and the unit runs quietly during operation. The alarm battery currently presents as healthy and indicates approximately 11 months of remaining life; however, because the unit had been offline for more than six months, we recommend replacing the battery before any clinical or other mission-critical use.
