General observations: Clean and in excellent condition. All components successfully powered up and there were no visible errors or signs of physical damage. The unit was pulled from a high profile state facility that employs regularly scheduled maintenance, and was listed as working at time of removal. The system was decontaminated and listed as safe for release per state decon protocols. Appears to be generally complete, though the small air compressor was not with the system when it arrived.
Facility Testing: System powered and went through initialization, signaling a successful connection between cytometer and server computer (inside controller). We then powered the acquisition PC, logged in and successfully connected to the server computer and cytometer. Test signals such as plate movement control, camera view, illumination and purge functions were all positive, eliciting expected responses from the cytometer. Camera view in the sorter screen was visible when illuminated and red laser reflections were visible near the tray. We do not have the necessary materials or knowledge to test full clinical operations but the framework of the overall system appears to be solid.
Additional notes: Computer and software work with FACSJazz and BD Influx systems. Production of the FACSJazz has been discontinued by BD. According to their website, supplies, parts and support are still available.
Included in listing: All photos are of the actual unit being sold. Comes as shown with power cables, cytometer, control cabinet, waste and sheath tanks, and fully operational BD FACS Sortware computer.
Product Details
The BD FACSJazz™ is a compact, benchtop cell sorter designed for high-speed, 2-way or 4-way sorting (up to 10,000 cells/second) with >98% purity. It features up to three lasers (405, 488, 561 nm) and 6-8 fluorescence channels, utilizing a valveless fluidics system to minimize contamination. It is ideal for, but not limited to, core lab and individual researcher use.
Features
- Optimized Fluidics: A valveless system designed to minimize cross-contamination between samples.
- Optional Sterility: Can be installed in a biosafety cabinet (e.g., Baker SterilGARD) for biohazardous samples.
- Disposable Kits: Components contacting biological material can be exchanged via a sterile, disposable fluidic kit in <10 minutes.
- Easy Alignment: Simplified optical layout with fixed-position lasers and independently aligned lenses for consistent, high-sensitivity performance.
- Real-time Monitoring: Integrated video monitoring for observing stream stability.
- Accudrop Technology: Automated drop-delay calibration for high-accuracy sorting.
